Executive Functioning Coaching

We offer various individual and group programs for boosting executive function skills. Executive functioning (EF) describes a set of mental processes that enables us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and handle multiple tasks successfully. Just as an air traffic control system at a busy airport safely manages the arrivals and departures of several airplanes on multiple runways, the brain needs a similar control center in order to help filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals, and control impulses during learning and problem-solving.

Executive function skills enable individuals to:

  • Get started on work independently and finish work on time

  • Remember and follow directions

  • Memorize facts and vocabulary

  • Complete writing assignments in organized manner

  • Solve multistep math problems

  • Pay attention to schoolwork while resisting distractions

  • Control emotions and tolerate frustration

  • Think before acting or speaking

  • Complete long term projects
