Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Educational Consulting and Support

Lea Noring is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and is fifth-year doctoral student and Ph.D. Candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University. She holds a master’s degree in Family Sociology from Valdosta State University.  Her undergraduate degree in English Education was obtained from the University of Georgia. She provides psychotherapy for children, adults, and families as well as educational consulting and support at Healthy Minds Psychology.

Lea has been working with children, adolescents, and families for more than twenty years.  She has worked as a teacher, child and adult ADHD coach, and as a special education advocate. She has extensive experience with providing IEP and school consultation, support for school problems (and how they affect family relationships), highly sensitive individuals, those with learning differences such as dyslexia, processing disorders and NVLD (non-verbal learning disorders).

Clinical areas of interest include eating disorders, co-parenting, and ADHD and its impact on family relationships. Lea was program director at a large Atlanta area eating disorder clinic, where she managed multiple eating disorder programs with clients who had primary eating disorders as well as co-morbid ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, and borderline personality disorder. Lea enjoys using tools, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and personality type and the Enneagram to help individuals understand their personality and inner workings, helping families to develop and implement no-fault communication patterns, and supporting individuals as they recover from traumatic bullying experiences. Lea’s approach to therapy blends narrative techniques with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) concepts. You may contact Lea at admin@hmpsychology.com.
